ACESULFAME POTASSIUM AND JOY by Cathy D. Slaght
Yesterday my daughter won 2 free tickets to the Jennifer Lawrence movie, Joy. And she took me!- (we are both Jennifer Lawrence fans.)
If you're in the Tampa Bay area, this is the site she registered on- apparently they give out quite a few movie tickets.
But that isn't what this is about. Since we got free popcorn along with the free tickets, I treated myself a Coke 0. I know, I know. Shouldn't have done it. But had never a Coke 0 before. Was feeling festive.
But when I got home, I was ravenous. Ate a bunch of crackers, then two cookies, finally made macaroni and cheese. I was out of control.
This morning I checked the ingredients and saw that Coke 0 contains ACESULFAME POTASSIUM. Diet Coke apparently does not. Coca-Cola says ACESULFAME POTASSIUM doesn't cause insulin spikes, but other sites say "Yes, it does. Have a Diet Coke if you have to have a diet soda, not a Coke O.
Problem is, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM is in toothpaste, mouthwash, and many other products we'd never dream contained it. Apparently when combined with Aspartame it has a sweetening power 200 times greater than sugar!
Just thought I'd pass this information along-
