Let’s put it all together- Folklore often says it best, so to summarize, here’s a Fractal Fairy Tale: The Beggar and the Box Once upon a time there was a beggar who had just one material possession. It was a small, plain box, which he carried everywhere. He had come to believe he was not to open it. He froze in the winters, because there was no shelter. In the heat of the summer he would all but die of thirst. His feet were ruined, because he had never had shoes. Most of the time he was starving. Seldom had he experienced kindness. Upon his death, the box was opened by one of the other beggars. Inside was a deed to the entire Kingdom, with instructions that all were to be joint-owners. This beggar had also lived a life of misery. Suddenly he had access to comfort, but didn’t understand. There was no food, no money, nothing tangible, just a bunch of papers. Along came a wealthy nobleman. The beggar offered the box in exchange for something to eat. Upon examining the contents, the nobleman immediately took out his sword and killed the beggar. Why? He realized he could hide the fine print- and have the entire Kingdom for himself. It was too great a risk that anyone else might figure out the truth- that all were owners jointly. The moral is obvious: We all own the Kingdom. We must just open our eyes.
