![]() DIFFERENT DAY, SAME OLD SH**? by Cathy D. Slaght Last week I got a call from a young woman whose anxiety and depression was off the charts. I asked her to go to the doctor- not a psychiatrist, but a medical doctor for a check up. That's because it's not unusual for highly charged emotions or even HABITS to have a PHYSICAL cause. (actually, I've read that psychiatrists are supposed to have their patients get a physical before prescribing meds, but don't believe that happens too often) With this in mind, since we devote the weekend energy sessions to prosperity and financial freedom, it only makes sense to mention the hippocampus. The hippocampus is part of the brain, and looks a little like a seahorse. It regulates anger and fear, but is also associated with learning. ANY new skill requires the participation of the hippocampus. When it's damaged, which is what our modern day diet of sugar and grains seems to do, not only does learning stop, but curiosity and enthusiasm drifts away. (learning this makes you even more concerned about all the processed foods our kids are eating.) Hippocampus stress is also linked to odd behaviors. For one thing, people can't learn from their mistakes. They keep trying the same old worn out ideas, making the same bad investments, marrying the same type of person, and so on. Their "timing" is off. Because of all this it's as if they're a magnet for misfortune. Can you see why it might be beneficial to learn about the hippocampus and take steps to get it in optimal working condition? And can we blame all our misfortunes, particularly the financial ones, on this stupid seahorse thing? Of course not- it wouldn't be that easy. But once the hippocampus is working correctly life can change. You may begin to see opportunities previously overlooked. Destructive ways of thinking may go by the wayside. Brain fog may clear, and memory improve. Your "magnet" may switch from attracting negative events to bringing in the positive. So yes, you're receiving stress management energy for the hippocampus today! And yes, your body is constantly repairing and rebuilding. One more thing- just like updating the operating system on your computer lets you run new, more powerful programs and applications, updating YOUR ENERGY SYSTEM, like we're doing with the daily clearing, has major benefits, including new, more constructive thinking. If, along the way, you decide to give up some treats, like maybe the sugar and grains that experts now say drain the hippocampus, and instead nourish your body with nutrients, obviously it will enhance the work we're doing. After all, you wouldn't update your computer and then throw it on the floor. :)
