SELF-LOVE CAN BE A STRUGGLE by Cathy D. Slaght
To manifest the life you desire, you must first have compassion for others.
But to truly have that compassion- whether it be for your teen-ager OR people from other parts of the world- or even certain political candidates- :)
- you must FIRST love yourself- makes sense, right?
One way to gauge your own level of self-love is by how you treat your body.
By the looks of things, we're in rough shape. I am referring, unfortunately, to the level of obesity in this country.
That nips step 2 of manifestation - compassion- in the bud.
Problem is, we're addicted to the toxins in our food. Go in any restaurant and watch the people. It makes me think of a scene in a Dean Koonz book, Midnight.
(A scientist develops a process to take away peoples' emotions- the only emotional release they have left is eating - and turning into monsters, of course, it's a sci-fi. Anyway, the way to identify a monster while they're in human form is by how franticly they eat.)
So I want to again mention intermittent fasting- some call it the "8 hour diet".
At the beginning of the year I made some positive changes, like starting to juice, and for a short time was able to quit caffeine, wheat, sugar and dairy.
But it got to be boring. I had to face it- friends having wine and cheese and me having juice?
Then I tried intermittent fasting. Have been doing that for several months, and people are commenting on the weight I've lost.
The key is to give yourself an 8 hour window, every day, to eat- and then 16 hours of NOT eating- fasting- to clear toxins from the body.
My hours of eating are from 12-8 pm.
So now every morning when I first get up I have a cup of hot water with lemon essential oil. This is said to help detoxify the liver.
(Lemon essential oil has zero calories, lemon juice, which does the same thing, does- I am going for zero calories until I break the fast, which will be around noon.)
After the lemon EO water, I have coffee- no sugar or cream.
NO BREAKFAST: Turns out that what we've been taught about starting the day with a big breakfast was backwards-bizarro world- information.
Breakfast breaks the detoxification cycle before its completed.
Any time after 12 pm I begin to eat, and can have whatever I want until 8 pm. When possible, I start with the Shakeology or a vegetable juice. But that's up to me-
I HAVE WHAT I WANT
The premise of intermittent fasting is that it takes 16 hours to completely detoxify the liver, burn fat, etc.
Turns out that there is absolutely NO research that indicates eating every few hours is beneficial in any way.
On the other hand, there are many benefits to fasting 16 hours a day. In the book "The 8 hour diet" it mentions that intermittent fasting can beat heart disease and cancer.
So yesterday, for example, I was craving pancakes, and had them, but in my 8 hour window.
During this 8 hour window I also take supplements, drink healthy juices, etc. After all, another sign of self- love is paying attention to your nutrition.
For a week or so I missed having breakfast, also wanted to nibble after 8 pm.
But now I enjoy this eating pattern. Plus, if I want to eat later, I can just move back the time I begin to eat- perhaps I'll start at 3 pm and go to 11 pm.
You can make your window any hours you like.
Also, just 3 days a week of intermittent fasting is enough- I go for 7 because I believe it's beneficial.

One last thing- if you DO start watching people eating in restaurants (try not to be weird about it) you may also notice many have no Light in their eyes.
When the self-love returns, so will the Light.
