KIND OF MAKES YOU SAY HMMM…
KIND OF MAKES YOU SAY HMMM… by Cathy D. Slaght
Without enzymes most bodily processes cannot take place.
In fact, with no enzymes at all a person would die in 3 or 4 days!
The people I checked with yesterday said they didn’t take enzymes because they don’t really understand what they are. So, here’s an analogy- say a house needs a new roof. All the materials are delivered, but the roofers never show up.
There will never be a roof, even though the materials are there, right?
The roofers are the enzymes.
Enzymes were first used in medicine in 1906 by Dr. John Beard, a Scottish MD. He gave his pancreatic cancer patients pancreatic enzymes and they all went into remission. In a great hurry Dr. Beard was labeled a quack and shunned by the medical community.
But now, in this age of information, we have an opportunity to gather data and make our own decisions.
And - if you gather some information on enzymes you may decide to take some digestive enzymes with your meals and some systemic enzymes in-between meals.
Some basic information-
The digestive system secretes enzymes that break down proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, removes toxins from them and makes their nutrients available to the body.
The protein digesting enzymes are protease, trypsin, and pepsin. The fat digesting enzymes are lipase and cholesterol esterase. The carbohydrate digesting enzymes are amylase, sucrase, maltase lactase and ptyalin.
(We also need cellulase for digestion of fiber in raw plant foods. The human body doesn’t make that one, BUT- if we eat enough fermented foods the micro-flora in the intestines can manufacture it.)
There ARE some enzymes the body doesn’t have to manufacture because they’re in the plants we eat. The challenge- enzyme levels typically drop by 50% just days after a plant is harvested. Still, just one meal a day of real, raw food will benefit digestion. Sprouts and fermented foods are particularly good-
BUT, the enzymes in raw foods can only break down the foods in which they exist. They can’t break down nutrients in other foods.
SO- say the body isn’t making enough amylase, a starch digesting enzyme- then a blood sugar imbalance can occur.
Protease deficiency (a protein digesting enzyme) can result in immune system disorders.
Lipase deficiency- a fat digestion enzyme- can contribute to high cholesterol and high triglycerides, gall bladder problems, hormonal imbalance, obesity, psoriasis and vertigo.
Deficiency of maltase can cause sensitivity to environmental toxins
Deficiency of cellulase can cause malabsorption of nutrients, bloating, and candida over-growth.
Combinations of deficiencies of different enzymes can result in more serious conditions, autoimmune being just one example.
For our work today we’re checking on- and then managing, on an etheric level- stress related to the following, all said to be related to enzyme deficiency:
The delivery of nutrients to the cells and tissues for nourishment and regeneration.
The initiation of biochemical reactions within the cells for energy production and detoxification.
Energy for rebuilding muscles, cells, nerves, tissues, bones and glands
Etheric, not physical
