If you really understood the dynamics of the conscious/subconscious mind, you would understand about the "hidden forces" that shape our destiny.

We were intended to understand. Ancient writings explained. But those who wanted to  rule the planet knew they could not- if all people understood the laws of energy. 

So, certain books were burned or banned. 

And if, as a commoner, you worked with energy, or were even suspected of it, you stood the risk of being tortured or killed.

As an elite, if you tried to share information with the masses, your fate was especially gruesome.

With an increase in population, though, and fewer Kings and Queens, the ruling elite was worried about controlling the masses.

Then Edward Bernays entered the scene.

Bernays was Freud's nephew. He understood energy, and taught the media moguls it could be used to manage people. He became known as a "public relations expert". 

He sincerely believed in what he was doing. The intelligent minority HAD to rule, he said. The masses were too confused, just a herd, no better than cows or sheep.

Except for their purchasing power, of course.

By Bernay's time, we had radio, movies, and television was on the horizon.  Bernays taught how to use these mediums to interface with the subconscious mind. Here are just a few concepts he engineered:

The significance of keeping the masses preoccupied with frivolous things. (That way they wouldn't have time to really THINK.)

How to create a celebrity culture that would manipulate our habits.  

The power of holding a picture/symbol in the mind. (For example, he coined the term "torch of freedom" for cigarettes, which inspired women to smoke.)

Woodrow Wilson even hired Bernays to get people fired up for WWI. The country was opposed to going to war.

Obviously it was a successful campaign.

Bernays said that the media would become the invisible government, our TRUE rulers.

But subconscious manipulation limits choices.

And some say "ability to choose" is actually the soul.

So, in a sense, you could say what he engineered was the stealing of souls.

It made me wonder. Bernays died in 1995. Does he have to pay for what he did?

Who knows. Maybe he's in information hell, chained to a TV. When sufficiently stupefied, he'll get sent back as a member of the herd.

Seems fair.

Meanwhile, maybe we should take responsibility for our souls and step away from the mainstream media. We could start investigating the truth of our reality and even share information with others.

It might light a path for some.

And THAT would be a torch of freedom!
