![]() UNIVERSAL LIFE JACKET by Cathy D. Slaght This is just too easy. The research is solidly against Monsanto. The evidence is overwhelming. It's not even a fair fight, except that is seems like the political process of some nations has been corrupted. Many nations allow labeling, for example, so at least consumers know what they're eating. Why not the USA? 90% of the population wants labeling! http://www.geneticliteracyproject.org/2014/05/14/64-countries-that-have-gmo-labeling-laws/ Here's just one example of what I'm talking about. When Canada allowed GMO they actually used only data supplied by Monsanto. Monsanto said GMO was "almost like real food", so the Canadian government didn't check further. Because of Canada's high standards, many felt GMO HAD to be safe if it was accepted by the Canadian Government. But then the Japanese took those experiments and found them to be fraudulent. The food is NOT safe, they said. So who in Canada made the decision to take Monsanto's word instead of doing independent research? https://www.organicconsumers.org/old_articles/ge/testing112403.php It doesn't take much investigating to realize that Monsanto has been spinning lies for over a century. Their first product was saccharin. Then in the 1920s it began to produce pesticides and herbicides. In the 1960s they were one of 9 contractors producing agent orange, which killed or maimed 1/2 million children. Children are still being born with birth defects. (At that time Monsanto said it had no harmful effects on soil, vegetation, or people.) In the 1960s Monsanto began producing PCTs, until the 70s when they were banned because they were carcinogenic. (They were so toxic that they still pollute the environment today.) Now they're telling us their GMO is safe. Two problems with this, and they're worth thinking about: 1. they have a strong track record of dishonesty, and 2. they are conducting their own studies. If you look at their promo material, it's filled with misleading statements. Here's just one: they state they have never filed a suit against a farmer. Really? http://www.monsanto.com/newsviews/pages/gm-seed-accidentally-in-farmers-fields.aspx http://www.nelsonfarm.net/ http://naturalsociety.com/monsanto-sued-farmers-16-years-gmos-never-lost/ https://www.organicconsumers.org/old_articles/Monsanto/farmerssued.php https://www.organicconsumers.org/old_articles/Monsanto/farmerssued.php https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130513/12113523062/monsanto-wins-case-seed-patents-planting-your-own-legally-purchased-grown-seeds-can-be-infringing.shtml If farmers would unify, their collective energy could be powerful. Instead, Monsanto has manipulated them into a sense of separation by offering rewards- like a leather jacket- really- to any farmer that will turn someone in they suspect of having some GMO seeds that may have blown into their crops. (trivia info- corn pollen can travel 500 miles in 24 hours) If they came together, they wouldn't need a new leather jacket, because they would have a UNIVERSAL LIFE JACKET. Just one suggestion made by one farmer who had been sued by Monsanto- what if farmers, instead of living in fear (Monsanto sends inspectors on a regular basis to check for blow-over) just starting calling corporate headquarters and saying " I think some of your seeds have blown into my field, come get them!" We have to consider the fact that this is a very powerful enemy. Our only hope is to work together.

Thank you for this highly informative post. Just the other day I was shopping at a local grocery store, saw a label that read non GMO.

Good point. I think we have to trust our present laws, but as they are changed I'm really not sure how we will ever again know what is in our food.

Yes, we have been voting with our dollars, and that's what Monsanto's trying to stop by blocking labeling laws- Comments are closed.
