We’ve been taught that humans evolved, over billions of years, from one cell creatures.

Apparently, at various periods of evolution we were fish, and so on.

Problem is, there’s no actual evidence to support this theory.  

Scientists who even dare to bring this up are mocked, sometimes even hated.  They risk losing funding, tenure, their careers.

So, before we get started on DAMP, something to think about might be “what about life- health, spirituality, and so on, have you decided based on what OTHERS have told you, without investigating for yourself?”

So, on to DAMP-

DAMP isn’t moisture. It’s a corruption of Qi, or energy. Our radio signals, i.e. the connection to the matrix of possibilities that surround us, are DAMPENED.

There’s stagnation, a heavy feeling, an “I can’t do that” attitude. It’s closely associated with being overweight.

It leads to PHLEGM, which some say is the root source cause of many diseases.

But where does all this corruption of QI begin?

According to TCM, the spleen. In Chinese medicine, though, SPLEEN isn’t just an organ. It’s the entire digestive system, the ability to digest food and THINK.

With dampness, a person gets a funky appetite- along with muddled thinking. (the spleen governs the ability to process information and logic.)

As dampness spreads, one result is weight gain. There may also be an increase in self-destructive behavior.

Also, dampness may go to other organs. If it goes to the stomach, for example, a person won’t be thirsty. WATER will sound awful, so they’ll need it to be flavored. Problem is, flavored liquids increase dampness.

Alcohol, coffee, and sodas are particularly dampening.

So, a few thoughts:
  1. Avoid soda, alcohol, and any difficult to digest foods – like fried, processed, or what comes out of a sack at the drive-thru.
  2. Too much raw food isn’t good, either- it can cause a person to overeat! As you overeat, you’ll contribute to more dampness.
  3. Finally, in addition to some dietary changes, to clear dampness, we need to move around. Nothing strenuous- maybe a walk, every day.

Check online, but it seems dairy products are dampening (sheep and goat products less so). Wheat is like the kiss of death. Processed foods, loaded with sugar and saturated fats, also a big kiss. Concentrated juices, especially orange and tomato, are extremely dampening, also beer. And Bananas- a big NO in Chinese Medicine!

These changes are somewhat of a pain, but we are working towards BLISS.

Unless you’d prefer to be a FISH.
