THE POWER OF PROGRAMMING: ASLEEP VS AWAKE by Cathy D. Slaght
When it comes to "programming" there are plenty of people who think such a concept is ridiculous. Truth is, we have been programmed since the moment of conception. Our first programmers were our parents.
Everything they say up until we're about 8 will be filtered through our "reality" for the rest of our life.
Our brains, at that time, are extremely malleable. And if the term "programming" sounds too sci-fi, substitute the word hypnotized. It's the same thing.
A child can be scarred for life if, during these first 8 years, the parent abuses them emotionally. The definition of "abuse" can vary, based on the sensitivity of the child. But a few examples might be working too much, criticizing, lack of affection all the way up to physical and sexual abuse.
The parent is operating out of their own pain, but since they're the authority figure the child automatically downloads their words and actions, and it becomes part of their data base.
What a difference it would make if more parents understood this and said things like " you are a gift from God" "When you grow up you will do great things" "You'll help many people" "You will prosper" instead of "You ruined my life" "You're just like your father" " You're an idiot" and so on.
Television is also a great programmer - many say it's the most hypnotic medium on the planet. Studies show the damage to a child who watches television- yet we continue to put them in front of it.
This all operates beneath the surface.
But here's the good news- with awareness, we can wake up
